Both of my grandmothers were creative people. My paternal grandmother was an art teacher who taught me to oil paint when I was young. My maternal grandmother was very craft oriented. In my mind I recall her home being filled with furniture she had refinished and reupholstered, rugs that she had braided and pottery she had painted. Some of those pieces are in my log home here in Montana today. Both my grandma and my mother taught me the pleasure of fabric color and textures. My mother taught me to sew when I was young. I started making my own clothes in elementary school. By high school, I was combining patterns to get my own look.

I grew up in an idyllic country setting and this is where that I met my husband, Frank Bramante. He won my heart with his music and with his strong, loving persona. We met and were married within a year. We traveled the country with his band until we settled in the country (where else?) of Idaho.

Finances were tight for us as a young couple. Wanting to make our house into our home, I began to sew home décor items. I quilted bedspreads from old clothes and fabric scrapes. Curtains and table coverings were also sewn. I even "patched" our couch as the fabric wore to extend the couch's already long, long life. When our two sons were born only 19 months apart, clothes and bedding were made for them. Later I got busy in the business world and working outside of my home. Sewing had to be put aside. When finances loosened, I began to purchase pre-made décor items. But as time passed, I began to find that what I wanted didn’t exist. The stir to “get my own look” began to activate.

Decorating my home with craft projects and fabric that were closer to my heart was a passion that grew. It continues to grow and evolve to this day. I am a practical person and typical of many working women. I have a limited amount of time and money but I want my house to reflect our family and that is accomplished by adding my handiwork to the decorating of it. So I took the things I love – nature and family and mixed them with practicality and came up with interior décor items.

I originally designed with solid fabrics because I believe solids make it easier to spark someone else’s imagination. You can pick your favorite fabric in a color similar to the solid or turn a spring scene into a fall scene if you are naturally drawn to those colors. Or perhaps that favorite piece of fabric that you have been hanging on to will find its place. It is my hope that you to will be able to get your own look for your home by using my designs as a starting point.
